Base price for a '78 4-speed manual was $12,000 US.
Same car with AC, AM/FM stereo, stabilizer bars, sunroof, metallic paint, "Touring Package I", and tint glass was $14,350. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

All prices are "prices then" (actual number of dollars borrowed or removed from the bank account back then).
Road & Track magazine printed a comparison of 4 Sports and GT cars with automatic transmissions in their April 1979 issue. They were -
Chevrolet Corvette
base price $10,220
price as tested $12,505
Datsun 280ZX
base price $9899
price as tested $12,682
Mazda RX-7
base price $7995
price as tested $9455
Porsche 924 (na)
base price $14,600
price as tested $17,790 _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

| It's the same today, you can buy a Corvette for about the price of an entry level Porsche (the Boxster). |
