I just order my control arm, and I read the tech article on clark's. I just want to make sure that I do not need to decompress the spring or do anything with that.
O/T: how do I get the bolt that connects the fender to the nose panel out?! _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red

The spring is part of the strut assembly and you wouldn't have to compress or decompress the spring in any way unless you were removing the spring from the strut. Once you have the car jacked up high enough that the tire's up off the ground, the spring's decompressed within the strut assembly as much as it can be and the shock is holding the assembly together, limiting the max extension of the spring. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. The front control arms or a arms can be replaced without removing the strut.
1. Jack car up support with Jack stands
2. remove tires
3. Disconnect sway bar from a arm
4.remove lower spindle bolt that keeps the ball joint
5. remove front a arm bolt from at the crossmenber
6. remove two rear a arms bolts, most of the time you can just loosen these up and slide rear out.
7. May need to hit the a arm down to release the ball joint from the spindle, I would use a rubber mallet for this. Install is reverse.

what size is the bolt and nut that is at the front of the control arm? I have to go borrow a couple of wrenches and I don't want to have to make more than one trip. _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red

okay, it must be the 19 then because I only have 18 and I need two because a socket won't fit because of the damage. I'll take a picture when I get it off. _________________ 1987 924S Guards Red
