|
|
I puchased a new valance and the panel between the headlights awhile back and was wondering if they panels will need primer before they are painted? They are black now and I assume it is some sort of primer but am not sure.
Any suggestions?
Thanks! _________________ Bart

| I would prime it! I have tried to just sand and panit those parts and always find the paint will peel off after a shot time. Not to mention that part takes alot of abuse fromrocks chips etc....you want the paint to stay on! If you don't have a spray gun I would take the piece to a body shop and have it primed and painted then put it on your car. |

well at both shops ive worked at weve done both. we would sand the panel with 400 then shoot primer sealer then block the primer or we would sand the black baked on primer and shoot adhesion promoter (dupont 222s) then paint. and both places gave 5 year warranty on paint.so do what can afford or know ho to. _________________ wonder what this button does.......oh! |

Thanks for the advice!! I do have painting equipment. I have never spent the $$ on new body panels so wasn't sure what the best course of action was.
Thanks again!! _________________ Bart
