i just wanted to list a few of the little things ive done to update my 82 931 using 87 924s parts..

Sunvisors- the late sunvisors are much nicer than the early puffy ones. 924s models will bolt right on, make sure you use the later rubberised clips as well (they also screw right in with no mods.)

windshield trim- on the left and right sides of early models there is a gap between the windshield and the trim frame.. the 924s has rubber inserts that fill that gap and give the window a smoother look.. the s inserts will fit right in the earlier model spaces..

the 87 hatch is a bolt in replacement on the earlier cars, as most of you know already, a great spoiler upgrade for those cars without them..use the late struts as well, especially if your going to switch to a 944 spoiler, it a bit heavier..

the radiator overflow tank from a late model will also work with a bit of effort, but i havent done this..its a cleaner look , but im not sure if there are any other advantages.

the late hood struts will work on those early cars with the hardware for them but didnt come with them..watch the fuel lines for rubbing, theyll need a slight bend and slit some rubber hose and sheild them for additional protection.

more as i think of it..

the late cigar lighter will not work, unless you change the socket as well..

Can you photo the windshield trim pieces you spoke of?
If this is a filler for the 3/8" gap between the glass and window trim, I would like more info and a source for the upgrade trim parts....
Thanks

ill get pics up as soon as i can, maybe tonight.. But yes, these trim pieces fill the gaps on the sides of the front windshield that look like their supposed to have trim anyhow..it always annoyed me a bit as it looked unfinished.. when i got my 87 924s, i saw it has rubber inserts in those gaps..when it was wrecked, i pulled them out and put them in the 931 and they fit perfectly. i "think" itll be p/n 944 559 027 0 (028 0) l&r sides.. but its diffifult to tell from the parts diagram i have, its listed as molding gaskets..

Whatever you do, do not order the "molding"gaskets. PET is not clear on this issue as to which part number it is, I ordered the rubber inserts that Eric mentions, using PET, and what arrived.... the outer windscreen trims!!!!!!!

I had searched on PET all 924,944, 924S sections and could not find them listed specifically, so if someone has the correct part numbers please post as yes, the gap in the frame is not the best part of the car..

Thanks
Arthur

Try again. As a good friend of my Porsche dealership service manager he told me the distribution center is messed up. He gets parts daily mismarked. On the bag it has the rigth part numbers but the wrong part inside. Try again maybe go to a dealer and order the part. I had to return one part once for this reason. Not very good help in the dist. center.

Just in case that didn't blow your mind, here- http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/pel_search.cgi?command=DWsearch&description=9445590&I1.x=7&I1.y=5 they show the left side as "rubber seal", then right side as "cell rubber seal", both at $20.59 - no big deal, but then the right side is superceeded twice to the same part number at different prices, $5.16 and 8.99, and that part number 94455903102 is then shown at two different prices, $14.91 and $4.28, then superceeded to 94455913700 "side moulding" at $78.57.
Something tells me the 94455902700 and 94455902800 numbers are correct and if they hand you metal parts instead of rubber, you're not the one that screwed up.

Interesting...are there 2 or 3 pieces to the assembly?
They look as tho the push in between the metal trim and the glass...
Thanks for the photo...

one piece for each side(right side pictured above, one long piece), they feel like cellulose foam, squishy but not quite rubbery..they just insert between the metal trim and the glass.... they do add a nice bit of fit and finish tothe windsheild though..ill try and get a better pic soon, lots going on right now and i need to dust first...

They may be an early 944 part number. I took mine off a 944 and squished them on the early mouldings.

I bought mine from my local Porsche dealer several years ago. They still look fine.

One of the nicest upgrades for the early cars are the 968 door seals. They fill the gap much better between the door and the rear verticle section. At the quarter window. Looks real nice.

Also the 944 style window seals. They make a ramp at the window in this same area.

Also the trim around the window at the top of the windshield. Use the later 924S/944 style that is a ramp style instead of a flat wall for the air to run smack into.
