With the temporary removal of my heater ,I now have a hole going through my firewall that makes the engine sounds quite audible.
I hear a tapping apon load and rpm that I would like to blame on the injectors.
Do they make this tapping sound?

No, CIS injectors just spray continuously, so there's no tapping noise from them. Tapping under load can be detonation/knock. Other than that, the main source of tapping sounds is the valves.

Yea, that’s what I was afraid of. I think the new lighter distributor spring I put in is giving too much advance in conjunction with the vacuum can.
I don't see how though because my full advance is still in at only 4300rpm.
I put the oem distrib back in and I'll see on the road tomorrow if I still hear it.
It’s my luck to have the hole in now. I always try to never ignore these signs.
I think the timing of the heater failure and the hole so that I can hear the tap are the Porsche gods smiling down on me.

I hope the curving project does not go belly up, but it might. Its too bad ,its seems to be working.

I get quite a loud constant noise from my head/valves. Not sure what I can do about it and if its the cam lobes hitting the tappets or the valves closing?

The next thing on my list of jobs is the check and adjust the valve clearances, do you guys think this could reduce the top end tapping noise I speak of?

Adjusting the valve clearances is definitely the first thing to eliminate, MacB. My 'top end' was quite noisy when I first got the car and I found that some of the clearances were 4 times too wide!

Getting the clearances right certainly reduced the noise at lot, but did not get it down to zero...!

Ping is gone with the OEM distrib.
Rats.
Euro-curve spring project is History.
