Hey i'm new here...i own a 924 for two months now...i had and have many problems with it since its been sitting in the rain for a long time...however no rust...just engine problems...today i broke the second fuel pump
I have two questions:
1. Is there any posibility to change the fulel pump system...some things anyone did to prevent it to break down when you run out of gas...its 50 EUR here and 50 EUR is some sum here
2. I race my car against honda prelude(200+HP) bmw 2.5 24v(192HP)
honda CRX(160HP)...and cars like this...we usualy drag race them(cuz if there were curves i'd beat the shit out of them )...i won once against the prelude..but i took the start way better and i guess i always beat the CRX..the thing is...my 924 has 125 HP...and i can keep up with these guys...is my car modifyed or its just the way 924s are ? |

Welcome to the board!
Our 924s sometimes have a better power to weight ratio than some newer cars, but it's better to stay in the twisties and watch other cars try to keep up.
It's a bad idea to ever allow a CIS car to run out of fuel since the pump is cooled by the fuel running through it. In stock form, they usually aren't damaged since they shut down as soon as the motor dies. Does yours still have a fuel pump relay installed? _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

"it's better to stay in the twisties and watch other cars try to keep up"
sorry my english is not that good...i dont understand what you mean.
My question is....is it normal that my 125 HP stock(as far as i know) 924 can keep up with 200+ HP cars in straight line ?
when i say keep up i mean i'm tight with them...a couple of meters away at most.
what i did to the car...remove rear seats(upper part)...remove back carpet that was heavy...remove spare weel..and i make 400m in about 17s
i'll test 0-100 km/h as soon as i get my clutch fixed...after a few drag races smoke came out of the clutch system. |

The best 1/4mile time I know from completely stock 924 came from my friend: a '77 924NA (w/ 116 000km on the clock), upgraded to audi-type 5spd trans and ET was 15.97 sec. It was in the drag-race event, so time is accurate. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

i am shure that if i get propper rubber on my wheels and loose the guy who was with me in the car i can do 400m in 16 s
I have another problem with my car...after a few races i get smoke coming out of the clutch system....and i feel it slips..after i race the car a litle bit..and it gets warmer..i get this weird thing...i want to normaly start with the first gear...and drive slow...and it shakes...some guy told me that the bolts holding the clutch to the flyweel may have come loose.....is that posible ? if so..can i siply fix them trough the inspection plate ?
if not..and i have to change the disk..it has to be an original porsche 924 disk...right ? no other audi WV disks that match.. ? |

the shaking comes from pilot bearing I guess, and I strongly recommend you to do the clutch job immediately _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

The smoke and shaking is your clutch telling you not to drag race!
If you must- I remember seeing a clutch maker online who sold 4 puck / etc. high performance clutches. I would suggest a google search. Of course, your transmission will be the next to go if you keep up the drags. It's like trying to make a motorcycle into a helicopter, these cars were never meant for this type of abuse.
best of luck,

abuse ? you talk like its a SW not a sports car...however i know the 924 wasnt made for drag racing i drive my 924 in a sportive way every day....not drag race it...but...sporty ....its a sport car after all...and above that...a porsche !
i'll do the clutch job as soon as the snow melts away and it gets warmer outside. Thx for the words guys. |

Arad is a town in some asian country....cant remember wich....but its also a town in the SE of Europe in Romania....a country that has shitty roads...high taxes and low salary...very hard to live here...very hard to own a porsche. Romania has realy good schools...and if you are a good romanian driver...then you would make an excelent non-romanian race driver full of bumps and holows its like driving in a rally cup on the streets however there are some parts of good new road...so we can race our cars. Finaly my car runs...since i bought it i had only problems...but now its ok...except the clutch thing |

ok....some more questions for you guys.....
1: car rus fine until engine warms up then at idle the RPM varies...when i give it some gas its all ok...pressure is kinda low....almost down to 2 at idle.Engine pulls hard...car runs excelent..just that idle RPM problem...i cant figure...
2: i'm thinking of mounting a turbonator...if you guys never heard of this thing...is smth like a turbo its a ventilator mounted on the air intake.
This vent is smth special..not an ordinary vent..its rpm is a litle bit higher and it has elicoidal palets...its suposed to give you some power.
what do you think of that ? |

The turbonator is nothing special. Its a waste of money, I have never heard anything good about them. The flow like crap, its basically a fan inside your intake tube, a restriction. Save your money. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

He means that the 924 is better at turning through corners than racing in a straight line. |

Morghen, they make big noise about big horsepower and have been around since 1999.
{from their web site}"Turbonator.com Inc. © 1999-2004 Turbonator.com Inc. All rights reserved"
They have been around for over 6 years, if the product was that good, car makers would be using it right from the factory. I have seen "Vortex" {the same basic design as Turbonator} in person and have read their marketing script. They are making false claims. And when someone tries to use their "30 day money back guarantee", the company stalls and won't return phone calls or emails. Then if you do actually talk to somone and ship the product back to them, they can say somthing like "you damaged the part when you installed it" or "it didn't arrive by mail" < There are a thousand ways for them to keep your money.
This is at the bottom of their web site
"Guarantee/Warranty Applies to USA only"
They talk about their guarantee over and over, then hide this at the bottom of a page at the back.
They don't mention what car got 35 hp from the product and their web site is not what I would expect from an extremly sucessful business. Also I have never seen an advertisment for this product on t.v. or radio.
Even if they were in a magazine, they could pay to have a story written about them, or it could have been an advertisement that they paid for.
I have seen a lot of scams Morghen, this product seems like a waste of money and time.
I hope this helped you.

Also on thier "testimonials" page {where customers say how great it is } All of the letters come from very well known places in the U.S.A. {their biggest market, or onlt market} and one even says he saves 10% on gas mileage. He says it saves him 4 US gallons per week! If 4 US gallons in 10% of the fuel he uses in one week that means he uses about 3 full tanks of gas a week! I used to travel hundreds of kms per day 6 days a week and would fill a minivan only 3 times a week, with seven people in it, speeding down the highway! What is that guy driving? An F-14?
Use that money to get a straight pipe exhaust {not too big though} or new cam.
P.S. I hate companies like this, liars and crooks. Even if someone puts them out of business, they will just get another lame idea and lie about that as well.
Anyway...
Happy Travels!
