| I have what I'm pretty sure are the stock shocks in the front and rear (they're gray and very dirty... that's about all I can tell). Would Boge shocks for a 944 work with this car? |

You need to check and see if the front struts are sealed (welded-on), or if the tops can unscrew. That will determine whether you need complete front struts, or can get away with strut cartridges.
In the rear, 85/2 944 shocks will work. Since the 924S came with alloy rear trailing arms, the 944 shocks that you are considering, must also be from a 944 with alloy trailing arms (85/2 and later). |

| It's probably another one of those newbie questions since I'm used to older cars with plain shocks on all 4 wheels, but how do you find out if the tops of the front struts can come off? |

look at the front struts and if you see a cap with threads below it then you have strut inserts, if you cant see then take off the wheel and wipe the area around the top of the piece the shaft comes out of clean and look for threads. _________________ 3 928s, |

| Threads should show where it attaches in the engine compartment? Got it. |

umm no, the threads you are looking for are in the wheel well, just behind the hub, in the center of the spring _________________ 3 928s, |

Yes front struts from an early 944 will work on a 924S. Don't bother looking for the threads, they are there. The stock non M030 struts on a 924S are rebuildable, so you can replace the inserts with anything ranging from el cheapo to Koni Sports (commonly called yellows). I have used Yellows in the past and am currently using Bilsteins HDs, which I prefer. _________________ Michael Manning

| Thanks. that helps a lot! - the older cars I'm used to working on are a lot simpler, this is the first modern suspension I've ever messed with. |
