There are two rubber isolation mounts at the rear muffler on my '79 - 924 Has anyone found replacement parts anywhere like NAPA autoparts or such...I need the in a hurry and don't want to order via a catalog...Tanks
BTW...this are not the rubber donuts - these have a cylinder os rubber about 1" long with a washer and bold at each end...the muffler attaches to a bracket, and this bracket id attached vie the 2 rubber isolation mounts.
Thanks............Blas

I made my own replacements for those from stuff I already had in the garage. -A long-enough 1/4" bolt, then washer, short length of 1/4" hose stuffed inside an equal length of approx 1/2" or 5/8" hose, then body-side mounting point, another length of hose, muffler-side mounting point, another piece of hose, washer, locknut.

that style of dampner is shear garbage imo they always break, I just welded 2 tabs onto the muffler and took off the bottom piece that the dampners attach to, and used the holes in the top piece to bolt rubber straps onto, and attached the other end to the tabs I welded on the muffler,

although now I have a cherrybomb under the middle and the pipe comes out in front of the drivers wheel

The same exact part is used in the hood for several purposes as well.

If I remember correctly you will find them holding the lower end of the windshield washer bottle tank, and the radiator.

While they don't last forever, they are reasonably priced from the Dealer, and do a good job of isolating vibration.

You could replace them with a bolt and a thick rubber washer, but the end result will be more mechanical vibration and noise.

Yes, I had considered a long bolt, 2 fender washers and a rubber block, I actually purchased a rubber block fitting and was about to built my own part until I considerd how the original isolation damper worked. Having a bolt going through the rubber and connected between the metal brackets completely defeats the vibration isolation design of the part. Makes it into a "shock absorber" rather then "Isolation absorber" and seems like it would cause problems along the exhaust system eventually...vibration transfering back through the exhaust system.I was just hoping someone found a replacement part locally. I orderd the parts from Porsche on Monday, 7 day delivery, $$$$, once again same old story, "Hurry up and wait"

BTW.
I can't say enough good things about "HP Engineering", the manufacturer of Bursch Exhaust headers and exhaust systems. I had a problem with my rear muffler of late, and after contacting them, they replaced it at cost...Also, when I put their exhaust system on my car few years back, I thought the tips protruded out too far from the car. They fabricated up a shorter set and sent them to me no-charge. I also installed a Bursch header in 1984 and its still in great shape...Quality stuff - Quality Company
