i posted this before , my pop up head light system is messed up and i have no clue on how to fix it or what is wrong with it. First the headlight motor doesn't operate but that is not my concern. i can still manuallly turn the motor and bring it up and down.
The proplem is eache of the headilght panels, you know the metal panel that goes over the headlights? hits the sids of the body nose panel on both of the headlights. on both sides when i lower the headlights it can't go all the way down because it looks like the headlights are not in the centre and in both sides closer to the outer edge (closer ot the tire) and you can see this its no in the centre obviously and so it can't go all theway down and hits the edge of the nose panel and it looks stupid like that so i always leave them up. i really want ot fix this but i don't know how it doesn't look like the headlights can be moved left of right to be adjusted to fit.
i've never seen another 924 with this problem i'm thinking it must be due to a bad repair after an accident maybe with wrong parts that don't fit this car or something?
i just have a low quality pic of how the headlight panel hits the edge when closed.

There is some range for adjustment in the way that the headlight "lids" are mounted to the headlight mechanisms.
And there is some range in the way that the headlight mechanisms are mounted to the body.
There is no reason to monket with the cosmetic alignment of parts, untill you have a good set of parts, and know that you are not going to be changing more parts, and then have to go through the alignment process again.
So fix the problem with the headlights going up and down on their own. Then get a copy of the factory service manual to see how to align the headlaight mechanisms. Then, finally, you can do some minor alignment of the headlight lid mounting to headlight mechanisms to achieve good cosmetic alignment. |

the headlights can't even go fully in , looks like the need a major adjustment to fit. i thought maybe the whole headlight system needs to be replaced. _________________ 78 924 sold.

The headlight assembly pivots on "hinge pins" that are secured by 3 small bolts on each side. If you loosen these pieces and manipulate the headlight assembly you should be able to get the front edge aligned OK. Your problem with the headlight motor is probably related to the fact that the lights won't go down all the way. Quite possible that something burned out when trying to retract, but was blocked. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |
