| Looking to buy some hatch struts. I`ve seen a few listed on e-bay. I do have a 944 hatch w/spoiler on the car now. Is there a diff. between struts? The electrical connector for the rear window defrost should be on all of them right? Are the hatch struts for the 944 heavier duty due to added weight? |

the 944 struts are abit stronger, however keep and eye on the frame at the top of the glass as the struts can begin to seperate these. _________________ 3 928s, |

The l and r are different due to the defroster connections. I think any of them will hold up the hatch but your deffy might not work if you don't get the left/right set.
It seems that there is no cheap route either. I shopped for a while for mine and ended up paying about $50 for a set at a swap meet, and was happy with that price. I've seen them on ebay every now and then for about $55, Dk what shipping might be... |

jpab, I have a brand new set of 944 hatch struts that I bought off of ebay, that you can have for half price. I emailed the seller before I bought them and asked if they were the proper ones for a 931, and he assured me they were. But, when I installed them, they were stiffer than the 931 struts, and I had to really slam the hatch to get it to latch. Since, I have already had to replace the hatch once, due to the seperation problem, I decided that I should get the proper 931 struts. I had to get those from the dealer (ouch!), but they were a lot cheaper than a new hatch. I don't know what they are going for now. Check it out, and let me know. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

Sorry, I didn't read this before I replied to the PM. Yes, they have the electrical connectors. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

Would have to be dual broom sticks. A single broom stick on one side will cause uneven stress on the hact glue bond, and will cause premature glue bond failure.
Porsche even instructs two handed hatch opening and closing for the same reason. Check out your owner's manual. |

shoot I use a 2"x2" cut to length..I need to get the struts also then Ill get the rubber hold downs Vaughnn talked about as my lock sys. is gone.
Race accessory catalogs have the hold downs I found some in a boat equipmwent shop. The stock struts I had were ruined when I didnt tape them off good enough shooting clear on the first paint job seems a little paint over spray destroys the seals and they wont hold the hatch. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na
