i had collector auto insurance on my 78 for a few years, it was great..it was less than $300 a year(full year, not a 6 month policy) , had 5k agreed value, comprehensive coverage, and included towing. I think the mileage limit was like 2500 miles a year.. when i put the car up , i canceled it as my home owners would cover it (it was in the garage) and i knew it wasnt going anywhere for awhile..
So now im thinking about trying to get it for my 82, but the company i had before is no more, guess they were bought/merged/banished to disolve into a large corporation, and my current carrier doesnt offer it. Since ive only put about 2,000 miles on the car in the past three years, it doesnt make much sense to pay full rates on policy that allows 5k plus a year and only offers basic coverage. On top of the fact that my area is one of the highest insurance rates in the country, double what i paid in ny, which is crazy to me..
anyhow, im just curious if anyone is using this type of coverage (historic/antique/collectable) , what company your using if so, and if i may be so bold, a ball park on what it might cost now on an annual basis (its been a few years since ive had it, im sure it has gone up a bit)?

I just got quotes for the 77 [5k agreed value] and the 79 924 [8k] and the 87 911 [28k] for a total of $650 a year for all. All cars must be garaged.
I am waiting for the paperwork. Saves me about 1500 a year.

I did not insure with them on the 944 as I told them I use it everyday.

American Collectors on the net.

My 73 914 2.0 and 81 924 are cover by LeLand West under a policy endorsed by the PCA. $300,000 combined single limit, contents coverage, towing coverage, glass coverage, and about $400 a year, total for both cars with 5K mile limit on each car.
