| Hi Everybody! Just wanted to ask if it was normal for my electronic ignition box(the earlier rectangular one 0227 100 010) in my 79 924 to get hot with the ignition on only? I am just concerned because i was checking something on my car that entailed leaving on the ignition for several minutes(and no, i never started the car that day, so engine heat is out of the question) and out of curiosity just decided to touch the ignition box and wow, it was hot, couldnt touch it for more than 2 secs! I decided not to start it for fear of inflicting any possible damage to that expensive item. I suspect that i`ve been driving it like that all this time. Maybe a short somewhere? I`l be doing some basic testing of connections and resistance and voltage values of the ignition parts as its explained in the Haynes manual, maybe something will turn up. The way the box is screwed on to the car`s sheet metal makes me think that maybe the sheet metal serves as a gigantic heat sink? Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks again! |
