4 cyl is going. Over the winter the 924 will get a v8. As most of you know, there was a problem with the engine that no one could figure out. I believe it is in the head. I have found someone to build me a 350 kit and even install the chevy 350 into my car.
** LOOK SOON FOR ALL MY PERFORMANCE PARTS ONLINE!! ** You can eMail me offline if you are interested in purchase before I post online.
I will be selling everything ranging from:
High compression pistons w/block
Cam(s)
Blocks
Various Heads (the good ones, not the one in suspect)
Weber Carbs
Auto Cam Gears (YES- THE ONES THAT GIVE YOU LOTS OF POWER)
Cam timing gear
Lightweight Gear Reduction Starter
Aluminum Flywheel
Electromotive DIS setup with trigger wheel & mount (mounts to 924!)
Underdrive pullies
MSDS Header w/ceramic coating
Dyno proven exhaust with muffler
Aluminum radiator (Performance Products fin-penetrating)
lots more
Sad to say, but no one was willing to fix the problem in the head. I found many different people that would blame it on other people's work but no one was willing to work on this engine. Too many people only want to work on Chevy & Ford engines these days around here and I want a car that I can drive. Not have sitting in the garage because no one wants to work on the head. _________________ Classic British Sports Car Restoration v6 + v8 Engine Conversion Swaps

A suggestion, AppleBit;
Perhaps you could buy another 924 NA engine for the car? I realise this may have been suggested already and I know you're not keen on the idea anyway. But you already have all the hi-po bits for it and honestly, it's gotta be much easier to rebuild and fit a 924 engine than to fit a V8?
The engine that you had in there was obviously not standard, if it was running carbies...
There are probably many good engines available in the 'Parts' section here. And no doubt much cheaper than a V8! (unless you've already got one?)
I really do think it's going to be much more difficult and expensive to fit the V8 than you anticipate.
Still, if time and money are not major concerns (you mention someone can fit the V8 for you?), and you really do want something different, then by all means go for the V8
Best of luck. _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I might be interested in the DIS setup and flywheel and maybe a few other things. I have a 931, don't know if the flywheel is the same or not.
Shoot me an email at darinflynn@hotmail.com
What are you expecting to get for the DIS and flywheel?
What about the cam gears?
Later,

I have a V8 in mine (in the UK) - a Buick derived Rover 3.5L. Gotta say it is pretty damn impressive on the performance front! The noise is just eargasmic as well!
All i would say is that is was a lot more expensive and complex than anticipated - there was quite a lot of one-off fabrication and special parts required. Go for the most powerful engine you can find i reckon, if you are gonna do it, go all the way from the beginning! |

never heard of k mart having auto mechanics..
but anyways places like sears etc don't do major engine work like replacing the clutch or whatver else they only do things like replaceing belts hoses and replacing fluids and doing tuneups. _________________ 78 924 sold.

For those of you with carbs. Last night after a rebuild last year I added 9.3 pistons and heavy duty valve springs. It would sneeze a lot and I did not drive it much. 300 miles. I shot off a note to Jim Pasha and he suggested we time the car at 2800 rpms and 30 degrees advance. That did it. Next is to adjust the cam via my old Cam gear. Had it on for 22 years.
The car now runs well without the sneezing. Slight stumble at 1800 [transition area] but runs strong to 6200rpms. Fresh engine and I did not want to push too hard. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"
