I have a 78 924 and i have already taken the interior roof leathe and fabric off and i can see all the metal and i see rust , there is rust on the interior side of the roof , lots of spaces where there is rust, i can feel it with my fingers but you can't see it. I took the exterior of the roof to metal too cus i thought there would be rust too but it hasn't gone through to the exterior it just looks like surface rust but in one spot it did go through to the other side and when i poked it it made a hole throught the roof the size of half a penny so its pretty small, if filled it with bondo before using phosphoric acid but i'm not sure if that will stop it from coming back. I really hate a car with rust because eventually it will get bad. I should have gotten a 81 or 82 but they are hard to find i usually only see 78 79or 80 924s for sale. Is there any way to stop the rust from getting worse by applying a product to it? lots of spaces you can't even see the rust but its there its between gaps of 2 metal roof pannels coming together i don't know if anyone else has looked at the interior of the roof. I was wondering if there is something liquidy or gell like you can apply to the rust and somehow get it on the tight spots to stop the rust.

about the only way I know of is to blast it with ice beads, its basically a sand blaster but with little ice shards, works the same but the benifit is that it cools you off for all the hard work but mainly leaves no mess as the ice pelts just melt, and then spray with POR15

um yah, i have no idea how to sandblast of iceblast plus, i don't know if you guys have looked at the interior of the roof (not the sunroof) with the leather or clothe all removed and metal exposed. There are lots of different metall pieces that come together some placs over lapping each other and between them in some spots there like a half inch gap and between this area and other hard spots you can't really see or reach there is rust i can feel it with my finger.

the only way is to like inject some kind of rust inhibitor thing and spray it on other places.

I heard about the por15 thing does it actually work if you just apply it on to rusty metal, some of the tight places i eplained above I can't even sand or clean so i don't know if it would do anything. isn't the interior of the roof metal coated with primer? cus some places where i see rust there is primer on top of it.

I think i should just give up rust is a bitch to fix it will just probably come back or spread slower with that por15 crap.

And i believe the roof is not something that can be removed or replaced.

I have 2 sunroofs though both intact Id remove the paint
if you can maybe a wire wheel and sanding disk in a drill
and use the por15. Never heard of ice blasting wonder if they do that
alot.

Done all the time on the north slope. Park it outside, leave the windows down and it will be slick as a whistle in a day or so ...

From all that you've posted in the past month or so, it sounds to me that you are going to be throwing good money after bad. If I were you, I'd get out before you sink anything else into it other than what you absolutely must.

I have been in the bodywork trade for over 10 years and NEVER heard of this!! I have sand blasted, glass bead blasted, soda blasted......never heard of ice blasting. It sounds completelty insane to me.......blasting ice at bare metal...once it was wet the rust would start agian and get in all the cracks....sounds messy as hell. I have got to see the link to this one and what kind of gear you would need to do it.

the media used is dry ice beads which are very fine, and they melt rght after the impact due to the heat and how small they are.

I have seen it being done very interesting. I dont like sand as it leaves a HUGE mess which you never get all of it.

lots of parts in the interior side of the roof where there is rust i cannot remove the primer on the metal which is over the rusty spots especially in the spots where i cannot see. would this product stop the rust if ther is primer coating on top of the rust? or a thin primer coating?

no i think you should get a wire wheel and get the primer off.
read up on prepping before you apply the stuff if anything if you put it over the primer itll halt any future rust happening and put the existing in check.
Its really good stuff well worth its cost and thats just it its kinda spendy.
