I'm going to take a look at this 944 to replace my now crushed 924 later on this week and I just want to get an idea of what I'm goin to see before I get there or if it's even worth going to see. I don't really know what to make of this car. From the pictures I've seen it looks good except the front bumper looks like it was pushed on one side. I don't understand the odometer roll over reported by carfax since I think the later 944's had a 6 digit odometer. I found it kind of odd that no title came up before '93. Anyone have any opinions on this car?

Perhaps the condition of the car is more important than an odometer roll back. If it drives straight and is still solid, with a good motor then it sounds good. Just make dure the owner knows about the roll back so you can get a better deal.

I don't see where a roll-back was reported. I see a roll-over, but that is to be expected.

If you could post the pics I think we could assist you more in the process.

Otherwise, most of us can read the carfax as well as you, notice I say most, and according to that there are no major problems other than a busted odometer.

IMHO anyone who buys a used 944 without service records is taking a fairly big chance. It's not like a 924 (motor) that can be rebuilt for a few hundred dollars.

As for the 6 digit odometer, it states right in the list of standard equipment that it does indeed have a 6th digit.

I would not buy this car if it were me, and my opinion is worth exactly $.02
