Isn't the fuel pump supposed to pressure up when the ignition is powered on?
Or does it only come on when there is a intake through the mixture control unit. (Or rasie the senor plate manually).

ponchojuan,
my car is a 78 also, and my fuel pump only activates when the engine is being turned over. i think on the 79 models on, the fuel pump is activated for a brief moment when the key is turned to the first stage, as you say this pressurizes the fuel system prior to starting.
can anyone confirm that its 79 on?
and to answer your question the fuel pump on your car is only activated when the sensor plate is lifted from its seated position.
if you have the key in the accessory position and disconect the plug from the fuel dizzy you will find that your fuel pump will turn on. _________________ 78 Dark met Green "THE 924" |

just remember to plug the connector back in as you would not want it to be constanlty running. it is designed to be that way so that if the engine is stopped for any reason(eg accident) the fuel supply is cut of to the engine.

| For the fuel pump to run, the ignition key must be in the "Start" position, or the "Run" position. While in the "Run" position, the engine must also be running for the fuel pump to run (senses tach impulses?). |
