CRISIS!!
Went on me holidays and left the 924 in the works carpark. When I got back she just won't start. Have had a look around with what tools I can bring in and I have both a spark and fuel, had no running problems in the past. (cold start injector??)
I guess I need to get it home so I can have a proper look, theres only so much you can do away from the toolshed.
The problem I have is how? I know no-one with a trailer so i guess i have to tow it. At some point it's had the bumper removed and a body kit added. There is no front towing eye.
Whats the best thing to fasten a rope to? Seems to me the only choices are steering rack or suspension mounts and I don't really fancy either!!
anyone any suggestions, don't want to pay for a towtruck.
Cheers
Nobby

check to see if the timing belt slipped a notch or 2,

but if you eliminated the factory attachment points then the A arm is about the only thing I can think of

Nobby,

Before towing I would check for corrosion on the fuel pump fuse and relay contacts. That happens to me with the 924 and 928's when they have sat too long.

roight!
2 towropes, 3 arguments and a couple of "told you so's" later have got the car back home.
Managed to get a rope fed through the body kit, then wrapped it arond both the front wishbones and the chassis link under the engine and still managed to keep it clear of the steering rack.
My towee (er indoors) decided to give the engine a turn after i had just fastened it all up and bugger me it started first time!!! Untied it all (while getting the smug comments) and followed her toward home. Three quarters of a mile later the engine died again. (she said it happened when she turned the radio on). Despite running it all the way dwn the hill where it died and trying tp buimp start it all we got was one large backfire and a cloud of black smoke.
Climbed underneath and reattached the towrope and pulled her home.
Car now on the drive, have spent the afternoon going through the motions and charging the battery. There is fuel going through the injectors and there is a spark at the plug.
Before I go any further I have a question (probably been asked many times before). I noticed in the past that every time I have anything switched on other than ignition (rear window heat, lights, radio that sort of thing) the car would never fire. Turn it all off and away she went.
I get the feeling that this could be related.
Does anyone have a systematic list of earths/wires to check through without missing any? Or anyone had something similar and have some pointers.
Cheers
Nobby
