|
|
My car has what I believe to be the original alarm/immobiliser fitted by the UK dealership.
I think it's operating because
1) the LED on the little widget fitted on the back of the centre console flashes, and
2) the control box beeps when I reconnect the battery after charging it, etc
My worry is that that it doesn't seem to be doing anything because it's not stopping me drive the car. I don't have the electronic 'key' that, I'm guessing, slots into the console thing. I would really hate for the damn thing to wake up suddenly and decide to immobilise the car.
Is there anything I can do to check it's working correctly? I could just rip the whole thing out, but my insurance company think it's protecting my car! Plus it would leave a hole in my centre console.
Any advice? _________________ 1985 Porsche 924 'Lux', Kalahari Beige (my ex)

the factory alarm will have a key slot behind the drivers side door, it will be a few inches behind the door, not on the door itself but the rear quarter panel,
if you are worried about it what I recommend that you do is to trace the wire from the red LED and you will find a little box, once you find this box you will notice that there are a few plugs on it, one of the plugs will have ONLY 2 LARGER wires, all the other wires will be about 18 gauge or smaller, these will be closer to 14-10 gauge, well all you need to do is unplug this 2 wire plug from the black box and then you will need to bridge the 2 large wires together. and then the immobilizer will be disabled.
really bright immobilizer huh. alarms are really stupidly made unless they are factory built into later cars with a full brain and then it needs a signal from the alarm to start, but even that isnt fool proof. _________________ 3 928s, |
