Driven on the freeway last nite at dusk all of a sudden my car quites and wouldnt restart I had to have it towed and missed work today what I
discovered though is if I spray starter fluid into the intake then seal it up
itll start right up though wont stay runnen acts like its starved for fuel the tank is topped off full. I removed the fuel line going to the fuel dizzy that comes off the filter and turned on the pump and the ignition not turnen n the motor over though just turning those to on to what I thought should be pressurizing the cis. Well nothin no gas came out ... the fuel pump makes a loud noise like a small compressor being running.. seems like the pumps bad got any ideas anyone can I take the pump apart and find anything to fix...I have extra fuel acc. though no pump could it be the fuel accumulator someone said if you take off the little screw on the bottem of the fuel acc and fuel come out its no good is this true.

Im trying to get to the end here...I undid the line to the filter and turned everthingon thinking the filter could be clogged still nothing comes out of the fuel line even if I turn the motor over... so.

Pumps are running but no fuel, are you sure someone didn't steal your gas?

After trying at the dizzy then before the filter and then at the
accumulator then right at the pump to get fuel , Ive come to the
conclusion that the pumps not doin its job. and I cant find any check
balls to prevent back flow heres a pic. Im gonna find another thursday.

Allright today I able to get ahold of a buddy and he told me to come out and take my pick from a box of pumps so I did. Noiw I just got to test them
and find a good they should all be good the other good ones I get from my tests will be up for sale pretty cheap or for trade.

The test is to hook up a pump to my car and run the pump for exactly 30 seconds. A good pump has to deliver 750 cc of gas in that amount of time.

K so I am once again capable of hitting 80-85
through traffic on the freeway like a mini-truck or something.
Leave at 5:30am and get back home about the same time cept
in the pm cars a blast I swear I love it. 80 miles round trip to
work and back..

Anyway after I changed pumps I started to have some sputters
wel I changed out all the cis stuff except the fuel dizzy and accumilator
on my 79 then after doing the filter to know a no-worky situation
I started to think maybe it was the CO and it was Ive adjusted to
lean one time doing it 3 times. I need to time it up with the light
and set the idle up its low I tell ya Im relieved I got to get my pped head to the shop to get shaved though I need to get the special valve spring remover. Hey I bet the shop thats gonna do it has the tool.

Yea it runs good though the timing is questionable I have a timing light
I just need to know how much adavance to set it with the light. So
does anyone wanna tell me Ill do it sunday. I dont think I ever set the timing correclt with the advance unplugged like your supposed to. I have 3 marks on my dizzy
I made the marks at different times with different set ups so I think its best to I start over. Im usen a actron advance timing analyzer.
