Help - 1987 924S - is pumping fuel, getting spark to coil, but no juice to distributor. Also where is the reference mark sensor located? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks .... Dick Price.

Under the brake booster you will find 2 sensors.

If the coil has spark, they are probably OK.

Are you sure the rotor is turning?

Hi Paul: The rotor is turning. The coil is getting spark. The coil is not discharging power to the distributor. Dick.

Are you saying the coil is getting 12 volts, but it is not producing spark?

Are you getting spark out of the coil when you crank the motor or do you mean you have 12V to the coil? IIRC the DME supplies a ground to the coil to complete the circuit. If you see pulses on the ground side of the coil and it isn't throwing a spark you probably have a bad coil .

As always the first thing to check is the ENGINE GROUNDS especially the ones under the heater valve.

Is your tach bouncing when you crank the motor? If so the sensors are probably OK.

what about the crank position sensors on the bellhousing that read off the flywheel? and you shouldnt be getting a full 12 to the coil when in the on position.

Other things that are easy to do:

Pop in a spare DME relay.

Remove and reconnect the DME plug under the dash or wiggle it while you are cranking.

With all wires disconnected check the coil:

1 to 15 should be 0.4 to 0.6 ohms
1 to 4 should be 5.0 k to 7.2 k ohms

Hi Guys: We are narrowing this thing down. My mechanic thinks that Lizard has the answer in his post. Will keep you posted on progress. Bought this one last week & it has potential. If anyone is interested there is a picture & description on my web site. Thanks guys, Dick Price www.jaxrepo.com.
