I was taking a look in my engine bay today after I went to the store and back and to my surprise my exhaust manifold was glowing. I'm guessing it's due to the mix being too rich, I messed with the mix a bit about a week ago but I guess I made it too rich. Anyone else have any theories? _________________ -'87 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L 6" of lift 33" Super Swampers

timing too far advanced and too lean will cause an extremely hot exhaust _________________ 3 928s, |

Running way too lean, could also be too much ignition timing advance.
Check the bottom of your exhaust manifold for cracks. |

Exhaust glowing is from an extremly rich mixture. You should be eaisly able to tell by smelling the exhaust. The problem is that the fuel is continuing to burn as it moves out of the combustion chamber.
I have never heard of the exhaust glowing from a lean mixture. If the mixture is too lean it will burn the exhaust valves long before anything else. _________________ 1981 924 NA
