My OPG is bad, but has shown signs of life (flickers from accurate reading to pegged).
Anyone ever had any success reconditioning these things? _________________ Toofah King Bad

| Sure it's the gauge and not the sender? |

Indeed, after contorting myself in ways I never thought possible in order to replace the old one! _________________ Toofah King Bad

Thanks for the link, but I already have a spare. . .I sort of want to revive the green matching one. _________________ Toofah King Bad

Does the spare gauge read correctly? _________________ 1980 931S

It doesn't, it is calibrated for a different range. _________________ Toofah King Bad

All the gauges (in psi / bar / kpa) use the same sender as far as I know. So your extra should work if you have a bad stock gauge.
Sounds like time to pull out the multimeter and start tracking down the wires from the oil pressure sender to the gauge. _________________ 1980 931S

Nah, the sender and gauge have to match. The 931 sender and gauge are 0-150 PSI, and my spare only goes to 80.

Try using an analog volt meter instead of your gauge and see if the needle behaves the same. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

It's the gauge. With the ignition on, it pegs, but my spare reads zero. _________________ Toofah King Bad
