How rare is an 80 931 without a sunroof in the US? I want an 80 931 because of the shift pattern. I have never liked the idea of sunroofs. I was wondering how rare they are so I know if I can be picky or not on the sunroof. Thanks. _________________ 80 924

I have no idea how rare they are, but I do have a comment.
I'm with ya on the no sunroof thing. I like the one in my 31, but when I picked up the (2) 24's, After looking them over carefully, I desided to restore the one without the sunroof. (even though it was in much worse shape).
I figure a seamless look is a much cleaner look. So if I can eliminate seems why not.
Plus, with less lines on a black car, the car appears much smaller.
That was my reasoning anyway. _________________ 81' 931 |

DK the exact build numbers but a USA 924 w/out a sunroof is very unusual indeed. Same holds true for the 944 -- they were made but are few and far between.
If you do find a 924 w/out a sunroof, you should seriously consider it becuase if you ever even vaguely consider a carrera or GTS/R conversion, the real carrera and GTS/R cars did not have sunroofs -- much more authentic-looking and adds to chassis rigidity as well. |

If given a choice, I would always pick the non sunroof unit. They are rare.
Out of 25 924/944 only four have been non sunroof units. And I try to keep an eye out for them.
One 84 944 (I cut the roof off the car to save it and it is curretnly going on a 924S track project for someone else.
One 82 944
One 82 931
One 77 924 (I cut the roof off the car to save it, I should have saved this chassis for a track car, but it was pretty rusty with surface rust) _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

My EV-Conversion is a non-sunroof.
I was so proud. '77 No sunroof = lightest 924!
Way to do my research? Eh? Eh?
But yea, go for a non-roof if you can. They look a lot better, and it's one less place to worry about leaks from.

Well I guess I'll contuine to look, although with my luck I'll find one just after I buy one with a sunroof. _________________ 80 924
