Probably a stupid question! but how do you remove the rear seat? I have spent ages looking all over but can't figure out how its held in! Am I being completley thick or is it just stuck in?
The reason I want it out is it is really dirty and I want to clean it Also seems a good time to fit the rear belts.
Another quick question, the internal door handle surround on mine is broken is it a common part to any other car ie a VW or Audi? |

| The lower part of the rear seat just pulls out after you remove the seat belts (if you have rear seat belts). |

Rob,
The rear seats are stuck in however it shouldn't present too many problems getting them out as long as you take your time.
I would reccommend cleaning the rear seats in situ - you really want them to dry in place to retain the shape - if need be remove one of the front seats for better access although this shouldn't be a problem.
Also hire a good industrial carpet/upholstry cleaner and give them a good spray and hand scrub before using the machine - hopefully they should come up like new.
Regards

I SAID IT WAS PROBABLY A STUPID QUESTION DOHH!! That would explain why I couldnt find any fixings for the rear seat
Rear seat now out and it makes it a lot easier than poke and hope to try and find the seat belt mountings.
Thanks to all for the info. Anyone know the answer to the door handle surround question. |

I am not really sure but by when you ask about the dorr handel surround, are you refering to the gasket? I got a set from Performance for less than $5.00. I am not sure about the VW parts. Some VW door handels look similar, but I have heard they will not work. I am not sure about the VW seals though. _________________ 1981 924 NA

| Roger the part I am on about is the black trim piece that surrounds the interior handle. Some PO has managed to break it probably when removing the interior door panel. |

not sure which other cars that trim is found on, but yeah it's common on a few cars.. i'd imagine something like the early vw polo/golf/beetle.. there's been a guy on ebay UK selling a load of trim parts lately, looks like he stripped a few cars, think the user name is "darren_wilson" or something like that - ping him a mail, he's probably got a shed full of them _________________ Mars Red '78 Euro 924 n/a

I dont know but I would guess an early VW Rabbit would be your best bet. Possibly a VW Van or Bug, good news is that since its black you can eaisly paint it if you find a different color. It may sound strange but they make plastic paint for trim parts. My hard dash cover is painted, and I had to paint part of the door pannel on the Intrepid. The apint looks good and holds up well. _________________ 1981 924 NA
