Hi!

Started the "RedThingey" yesterday and had some problems with the fuel pump. It seems I got problems somewhere around the additional fuse board, I don't seem to get any electrical power to the fuel pumps? The problem is intermittent, just comes and goes??

[Rants&Ramblings]
When I do have fuel pressure the car starts up and runs just fine! It's not been started since November and still the battery is holding enough power to crank the enginge many turns while we were trying to find the fuel problems!
[/Rants&Ramblings]

Regards
Magnus

Try checking the wires that connect to the top of the relay plate that the fuel pump relay sits in. If you have been leaking any water in there they are likely to be green and corroded causing an intermittent current flow.

cheers
Geoff

Thanks, Geoff! I think that could be an issue here, this car has taken in loads of H2O...

Will look at that tonight!

Regards
Magnus

Yes, I had exactly this problem very bad on my 82 931. I ended up cutting the wires off the #2 fuse and wiring in 2 other fuses, modern blade-style fuses, to fix it for good. The new fuses are in weatherproof enclosures!

OK, I'll take the whole thing out and have a look at it... Hopefully I will remember which cable goes where... (Digital camera = blessing in this case?)

Thanks!

I didn't check the wiring diagrams but doesn't the aux fuse pannel get power from the main pannel? If so it could be the relay that is causing the readings. Try jumpering the relay pannel and see if the readings change.
