I wonder if anyone can help with this.
I bought a Phantom Grip unit to try in the supercharged car.
The car uses a std 931 snailshell box. The unit sent out to me is code 903 and does not fit. I have tried to contact Phantom Grip themselves but they seem to be away racing for a while and as I have my own race in a week or two I thought I might see if anyone on this list has tried to fit one of these units to a 931?
It might be I have the wrong part number, I suspect I have, the unit itself is simple but looks well made. Phantom Grip themselves were great when I bought it, I just need to get a solution quickly and I'm told they might be away for weeks.
Cheers

Oh god, you didn't, did you?
The general opinion among those with whom I race regarding the Phantom Grip is that the name is aptly chosen.
Why on God's green earth did you not save up for a Guard LSD, Quaife, or at least a used factory LSD? _________________ Vaughan Scott

I know what your saying...........I gues it was the cost more than anything. The used ZF units are like rocking horse doodoo over here and command silly prices even for units in need of a complete rebuild.
The Phantom grip unit looked worth a gamble.
Anyway, if they dont get back to me in the next couple of days it will have to go back anyway as I have to have a diff ready to roll for my next event. I hope they do as I would like to try it.
If they cant supply a correct unit I will be looking for a cheap zf , just in case anyone has a good one !
Cheers

Well I spoke to Phantom Grip and it turns out my box has a larger washer set than the norm.
Shame, as the unit looks well made and I did want to try it. I have heard all the mixed messages but it seemed worth a try.
For sure the help from the people there was great, I hope if they make a unit for my box I can get one, until then I am sending this one back with their agreement for a refund.
So this leaves me short of a diff. Does anyone have a good 915 zf type fine spline diff for a 931 in good condtion for about £250 (about $400)? _________________ Blown is always best! |

a 930 lsd diff should work, and they are a much more common piece, check out some of the 911 shops _________________ 3 928s, |
