On the throttle body right side (facing front of car) I noticed there is a small round hole approx 1.5 centimetres in diameter at the end of a square casting

Can anybody confirm if this hole is supposed to be plugged with something?

It does not seem logical to have this open to the air

Many thanks

Arthur

A 1.5cm hole? Not sure what you're talking about, but if you meant 1.5mm - there's a vacuum port about that size to the right side of the tb -
Here the line's connected -

Is that what you're referring to?

Smoothie,

The hole I am referring to is at 2 o'clock behind the left handed elbow and to the left of the vacuum line. It is shown filled on both of your photos.

Thanks for your help

Arthur

Couldn't see your pic - maybe you need to set permissions to puplic for the picture folder?
In any case I think I know the spot you're talking about - looks like a part of the casting that had to be drilled then covered to complete an air passage up from 8 o'clock to 2.

That is it exactly.

I think this should be plugged, do you think it affects anything?

On my car there's a vacuum line at the 8 o'clock position of that piece of casting. It leads back near the coil -

I'd say get it hooked up. Otherwise, plug it because if there's an air passage there, it's a vacuum leak.
-But of course there might never have been a vacuum line hooked up there for the Euro spec car in which case that casting probably was never drilled all the way through.

I think you solved it with the magic words "charcoal valve". Mine is European spec so it does not have one.

I agree with you though, that it is a vacuum leak so should be plugged.

Thanks for your help, trust I have not been too much of a pain

Arthur

No problem - glad to help.
I was adding a comment to my previous post while you were typing.
I'm thinking there's not necessarily a vacuum leak on yours because it probably was never drilled out. Just have a close look at it - maybe poke a wire in there.
