|
|
Well, I'm almost done with my whole rebuild, and am considering making a kit for 924 owners to buy to rebuild their engine to avoid the hassles of ordering in different shipments. Here's what it would include:
Deves Piston Rings
Main Bearings
Rod Bearings
Head Gasket Kit
Crankcase Gasket Kit
Freeze Plugs
Oil Galley Plugs
Head Bolts
Cam Oiler Elbow
Pilot Bearing
New hardware (exhaust manifold studs, oil/water pump bolts, etc.)
Distributor Cap/Rotor
Belts
Price would be $450-500, and you could choose to order a clutch kit for $245.
Would anyone be interested? _________________ 1979 Porsche 924 "S"

Alright, cool. I'm going to be going down to Mr. Metric (local metric hardware store) today, and I'll pick up an extra set just in case. If anyone wants to contact me, feel free to do so at dmeatry@comcast.net. _________________ 1979 Porsche 924 "S"

You should add rod bearing nuts to your list. They certainly don't add much $$. Sounds like a good idea though.

Something else that needs to be added to the list are the front and rear main seals. Putting together an "overhaul kit" is an ambitious idea. Don't forget that the 924 and 931 will have different requirements though. A complete parts listing (with part numbers) would be something nice to have posted in the Tech Section. Several of us have just completed (or are just about done with) a full rebuild, how about we pool our collective knowledge and see about listing everything needed? Prices are going to vary too much from source to source, and from year to year, so it probably isn't worth trying to list them.
