|
|
OK building this car, I like to have all my parts in a role, To keep me focused part of the fun is putting the package together, and finding the parts. So with my engine parts bought and most of the suspension and with the design layed out for the interior. Time to think tunes. So how has the biggest loudest system and can you crank it with the windows up? I feel Stereo weight is acceptable weight I want to add, and since Kenodog told me a great trick on loosing 20 lbs. That will make up for some of the stereo equipment I am thinking a couple of 12 inch subs pushing about 1000 watts, Any ideas. I'll be using door speakers and the original 4x6 in the rear quaters for mid and high range. And may toss in a set of 6X9's to pick up the slack.
Do you think the 1000 watts would be too much? Anyone got a killer system? _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

I thought the whole reason for getting a Porsche was so you could listen to the engine. _________________ 80 924

I had a pair of pioneer 12's in a shitty but sealed box facing the rear hatch pushed with a 650 watt pioneer amp and it sounded good.

Vaughan has that really nice 10" sub box in the spare tire well. I'm planning on that, except in fiberglass, with a pair of paradigm 8"s I have. _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

I've got 2 10" Rockfords in the spare tire well, 2 6 1/2" Kickers in custom boxes just in front of the rear seats,2 3x6" Alpines in the rear stock locations and 2 5 1/4" Alpines in the doors.I turned it to 11 once and the rear hatch popped open! (Although in all honesty it does that sometimes when i'm driving too.) _________________ 1979 Euro 931, Olive

I am with Kaffine. I have a 2 litre sound system that plays a superb symphony. I have a radio and it works but I have to keep it low so I can here my favorite tune. I would like to put mics in. One by the turbo and 1 by the tailpipe, you know, stereo. Then put that through the speakers. _________________ 1980 924 turbo |

I first have to fill the stock holes..though
I think maybe a 1000 watt system
I can afford 2 channels
then go with the stuff in the spare tire
some kind of 400 watt 6x9 3ways in back
some 5x7 2ways for the front and some
flush mount dome tweeters for the dash.
then add the 10 in the well somewhere. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

| I've got 4 Blaupunkt overdrive 4x6s for the doors and quarters, 2 overdrive 1" component Blaupunkt tweeters countersunk in the dash, and 2 10" MB Quart subs in the spare tire well.....though I'm not driving the car as it is still in the middle of being worked on. |

I have a 10" Clarion aluminum piston 500W sub http://www.clarion.com/subwoofer/sub07.htm in a ported box, powered by a 500W amp (can't remember the brand, but I remember it being about $500 new).
The sub box is actually intended for standard-cab trucks, but it was thin enough that you can't tell it's there with the hatch cover closed. Out of sight, out of mind Plus, with the angle of the box and the type of sub I have, I get ZERO flapping from the cover.
I also have Clarion 4x6 plate speakers http://www.clarion.com/pwrsys/powersys04.htm which sound great but I need more mid-bass to fill the spectrum. The system suits the music I listen to, the bass is solid and not boomy.
But I have a Pioneer CD deck with a fried radio _________________ '80 931 FOR SALE

I pulled 0.25 inch speaker wire out of mine as I was stripping it. I wonder if the prepping for the rest of the sound system contributed to the fire? |
