I thought I would clean contacts, etc. on wiper motor and I took it apart to find a completely rusted case and windings (no rebuilding here). Anyone have a working one for sale? _________________ 77 924 n/a

Thanks. I saw one on ebay that might work. Over $200. new. I have too many parts to buy. Trying to locate an a/c relay for this early 77 and ordered one from porsche but it was not the right one. Radio quit. I found a green wire that had been spliced into a red wire to supply power to radio and antenna switch. PO had used elec tape on this splice and needless to say the tape aged. The spliced wires hit metal under dash and I thought that was the problem but im not sure.
There is an inline fuse on both wires to radio and switch and neither fuse blew. The red spliced wire travels to a connector (blk/w) from behind relay panel. There is no power at this point either. This blk/w wire appears to go through firewall but cant guarantee that. Totally confused here as there are no blown fuses in fuse box either. _________________ 77 924 n/a

You should be able to find or make to work a lot of ancillary parts from VW & Audi to get your Porsche in good condition. Engine parts buy new. Wiring is a pain in the butt on these cars, at least on mine it is, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Get a soldering iron & multimeter from Radio Shack if you dont have one, and get a wiring diagram. Plus you can never have enough connectors. Rewiring is a pain but it can go fast once you have a good plan. As per your radio I'd say junk all the old PO stuff and wire it off of the accessories lead on your ignition switch. _________________ 1977.5 924 "Martini" head / New Old Stock rebuild

Thanks. I will wire it there. I dont understand why anyone would use elec. tape on a car when a connector is what 25 cents? Although I know nothing about soldering...guess I should learn about now. I am just worried that it blew the radio. Its the original 8 track stereo and keeps the car original.
I cannot get a PO report with a 10 digit vin but I am willing to guess there was an original proud owner for many years, and then a second owner. The car is beuatiful. The interior looks like new mostly. The engine area has been well maintained, clean oil, new looking bosch plug wires and the smog numbers are excellent which tells me the the timing, and idle are good among others. I have finally learned to adjust the clutch from reading hours and hours of posts on this site. Thanks to all! _________________ 77 924 n/a

A Blaupunkt 8-track? No kidding? I've got a pioneer for discs but I've always wondered what the original stereo would sound like. Chuck Berry, the Bee Gees, Elton John... someone should make an MP3 player out of an 8-track tape. _________________ 1977.5 924 "Martini" head / New Old Stock rebuild
