I thought I'd post pictures of my control arm bushings just for fun.
these pictures are taken from just behind the left front wheel from the under side of the car. In other words, reached under the drivers side of the car just behind the left front tire and took these pictures.
I looked under there and took a picture with the car flat on the ground. here's that picture
then I lifted the car up so that the left fron wheel was hanging and took a look
I think it's time for new bushings

Those are the ball joints, right? That's what we usually call them 'round these parts anyway.. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

The ball joints are only about $20/each. If yours have never been replaced, you may have to use a drill to remove the rivets that the factory originally installed the ball joints with. Some of the kits come with replacement hardware, but you can pick up the bolts at a local Ace hardware for a few dollars if need be. They should be M7x20 bolts. Don't forget to get lock washers, too! _________________ Jon Furst |

Ball joints should come with hardware because the manufacturer doesn't want the backyard mechanic using low-grade bolts. If it doesn't come with new bolts, get 8.8 or higher grade bolts and nuts. _________________ Dan Flanagan--2002 VW Jetta TDI, 83 Mercedes 300D,83 Mercedes Euro-240D |

Good point. My spares came with 8.8 grade bolts (m7 x 1.0 x 20mm). _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."
