Hi Group: Made an earlier post on this topic, this an update. Currently on ebay is a 1987 Porsche 944S, being sold by a highly reputable (their words) auction house. The car is listed as having 80K miles. Some of the verbiage goes like this: "The odometer reads 170K. It was disconnected due to not working correctly. By looking at & driving this car, it is obvious the odometer is incorrect". IT SURE IS: according to Florida DMV: 10/97 - 157K miles, 12/98 - 212K miles. When selling a car in Australia, it's illegal to wind-back the odometer/state the mileage is lower than you know it to be. Car dealers are required to make all reasonable checks to ensure the vehicle isn't stolen or that it doesn't have outstanding finance, altered mileage, etc...
If they were selling here and were reported to the authorities, they could be in a lot of trouble... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |
