My PET lists it as a "breather pipe". In the remarks it states 82- model M31.03/04. Looks to me from the diagram that it is the hose that comes from the activated carbon canister to the port on the lower part of the fuel mixture control unit. That is how it is hooked up on my car but it's an '80. I can fax you a copy of the page from the PET cd if you like.

-But then, according to Porsche's parts list, it's a "breather pipe". Whether it's a pipe or a hose, it seems to be attached at the bottom of the air metering assembly. (The diagram I have isn't real clear.) Pelican's price seems to suggest "pipe" rather than "hose".

It's definitly a pipe.I have it in my hand.It came with a mixed parts bag on ebay.Funny but the only place I didn't look was there.Thanks guys your a great help as usual.
