| Hi. I posted this in another topic I created but Im stumped agian. My highbeams won't click on. I pulled apart the steering column and checked the operation of the switch itself. When the lever is pulled forward it connects and disconnects when released. I cleaned all the contacts pertaining to the headlight switch, dimmer switch and turn signals/high beam on the steering column. I also have replaced the fuses and wire brushed all the terminals. The problem arouse after I swapped my dashboard, the highbeams no longer would 'click on' when I pull the switch forward they don't click (i.e. when the key is no in the ignition they won't click on, but when it is in the accses. they can be activated) Iv gone through the wiring diagrams and the only thing I can find that could be off is the wire running from the highbeam illumination bulb (blue / white) has the same colored wire dangling freely near my fuse box. I can't seem to find the terminal it should connect to (d22) so I ran it through to S3 (fuse 3) where it is located in the wiring diagam and it made no diffrence. Im stuck on what else it could be. Could the relay simply be kaput? Iv got another set of headlights I want to install but I would like to fix the wiring before putting them in incase it damages the bulbs. Any help / suggestions? How does the car determine when you can and can't illuminate the highbeams? does anyone know if it is mechanical or electrical? |
