Ive got a 80' 931 and my guages suck. The gass gauge says im always empty, my speedo jumps all over the place and if i ever drive in the dark the backlights are so dim i dont know if they are working at all. What should i do, can i just get a new guage cluster, or would replacing parts and light ect. be worth it ? Also there is a guage that is to the right of my Analog clock (in the center above my cd player) what is it for, it says BAR on it. Can i get aftermarket guges cheap, or shoudl i just fix the old?

the bar guage is the oil pressure guage the sending unit is attached to the head,
now as per your guages, for the brightness of the lights, clean all the ground points up behind fuse box, and also in the back by the left taillight under carpet, also make sure your dash dimmer is turned up, you can rebuild the headlight switch but it is EXTREMELY difficult to get back together, it took me 20min (damn bearings and springs) but it does make it work alot better, also take out the guage (just pushes into the black plastic pieces), and clear the ground points for each one, and the rest of the contacts, take out the bulbs and replace they get film on them which lowers output, also clean the steel sleeve they sit in, as per your gas guage, make sure the connectors on the back of the cluster are clean, and also clean the multi pin connector by the rear left taillight, this may fix it, although you may have to pull the sending unit out of the gas tank and clean or replace it.
