I spent last weekend working on the Intrepid. I was hoping it was just a seal but the evaporator is shot. I had to remove the entire center console, dash and all the ducting including the heater core, and blower motor. The only parts that I did not have to pull out of the front of the interior were 4 electrical connecotors. It took the better part of 2 days but I finally got the evaporator out and confirmed it needed to be replaced. Great part is I didnt break any of those little clips or plastic peices. I found the parts on line for $216.00. The Dodge dealer wanted $1100.00 to do the job so I am feeling pretty good about doing it for $250.00 (the receiver/dryer was an additional $40.00). It will probably take me another 2 days to put it back togeather. The book time on the repair is about 11 hours I will probably have 30 hours in it when I am done. The Haynes manual was surprisingly accurate and there was only one major set back, and one trip to the auto parts store. There is lots of work ahead but I am feeling pretty good right now.

I was able to do it in under 8 hours but I got alot of practice. I was an aprentice getting paid hourly for a year at a dodge dealer I got most of the dash and wiring harness jobs that came in even after I went flat rate I still got alot of them, all under warrenty which which pays less than half of customer pay.

Lizard - Maybe you checked this already, but low freon can look like an electrical problem with many cars. There's a pressure switch that keeps the compressor from coming on - in which case you can use a jumper wire in place of the switch to activate the compressor while recharging the system.

I have looked in the window and there are no bubbles in there, so i am not sure, I am going to be fixing alot on the 928 before reinsuring it again, I have the rack out which I am going to be rebuilding, I am going to be replacing the motor mounts with the solid anchor mounts, I am also pulling the intake and valve covers off and having them powder coated, and then looking into the AC system, and I am considering converting to a stick

hehehe I am always up for a challange!

kaffine:
8 hours is really moving. I could imagine being able to do it in 16 hours now that I am more familiar with the procedure, but I hope I never have to find out. I spent alot of time refering to the manual and making sure I was carfull enough not to break anything or snap any of those little clips.
