I was given a G31 snailshell from a friend of mine who pulled it from a parts car.How do I tell if the gear ratios are the same between it and the one currently in my car?Does the number on the housing have that info?I'm hoping to get a taller 1st gear.I guess this query is aimed mostly at the racing crowd,thanks guys,Leigh.

The number stamped on the case will tell you if it's a G31-01 or an -02. I've got the -01, and its 1st gear ratio is the same as the -02 found in US spec cars. Here's some links to a discussion on the gear ratios:

I hate its 5th gear

Is it possible to change?

If so, how can I and where can I get different ratio?
