I prefer to have my 924 as close as possible to its original state
(they way it rolled out of the Porsche dealership in Hamburg - March 1980)
Here we call that a Classic car...
I didn't change wheels, tyre size etc etc
Even the radio is the same that came with the car
If someone doesnīt agree with this aproach itīs OK but I'd love reading what you think about this subject _________________ Euro 924 1980 N/A

Being you own the car you have the ability to do with anything you please. Some of us modify their cars others don't for various reasons.
I myself own a modified 77.5 924NA but also own bone stock 79 931 Euro. The turbo will stay stock.
My 911 Targa and the 944 will also remain stock.
Just enjoy what you have and if anything on this board interests you by all means use it.
good to have you on the list. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

I have found in my experince most Porsche owners, don't mdoify or customize there cars outside of slight perfomrance inhancements. And usually nothing that changes the appearance of there cars O.E., Now this is the general, even though there are plenty out there that do. Heck my own doesn't even look like a 924 any longer. But my is stock. And the 79 I am working on outside of custom paint and seat inserts it will stay stock. A matter of preference. I don't care either way, as long as it is a nice car _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

Ummm, if I'm not mistaken, they all were built at the Zuffenhausen facility in Stuttgart. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |

As I recall, 924's were mostly built at another facility in a different town, but some of the 924T work was done in Stuttgart. Not recalling the name of that other factory... started with an "N" or a "P"?.. it wasn't Weissach, was it? I have no life - maybe I'll look it up later. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. "Neckarsulm" -
http://az.pca.org/motor_pool/articles/porsche_924.htm | Quote: | | Well, the oil crisis of 1974 took a bitter toll on VW's vision of the future and the waves of red ink swirling on their balance sheets swept most of the VW management team from their seats on the sinking ship. Porsche properly procrastinated and in early 1975, the new Managing Director of VW met with Porsche leadership and reached an accord which would see the 924 built in a VW factory in Neckarsulm, which was on the block for closure and was located twenty-seven miles north of Stuttgart. It was a win-win solution. Porsche would own the design, the tooling built so far and be the responsible manufacturer of the Model 924. Volkswagen employees would build the car, order and/or supply the parts, keeping their jobs after all. |

I hear ya... my 82 931 will stay as stock as I can afford to keep it. But my '81 will be receiving as much mods as I can stand/afford/justify! _________________ Vaughan Scott

If you can afford more than 1 Porsche itīs OK to chose to modify one and keep the other stock.
since I only have 2 cars (the 924 and a Peugeot 307 2.0) I prefer to keep them both "standart" _________________ Euro 924 1980 N/A

| About the only not stock items on my car are swaping to a porsche 4 spoke steering wheel, a better gearshifter and boot and a pair of sportseats. All have to do with simply comfort and style. Me being a man giant (6'7") the modifications really improve the way I fit into the car. |

Iīm no little man either:
1,92 mts (6' 4") and 115 kgs (ex rugby player)
but I fit just fine with the original leather seats and normal steering wheel _________________ Euro 924 1980 N/A

I like the stock look of the 924. The next step would be buying a 944. I will put money into fixing and restoring the 924. Maybe some day I buy a 944. _________________ 1981 924 NA

I don't think there is a car from a factory that I wouldn't mod in some way just to personalize it to me. The only exception might be if it's a very rare car. I would likely still make some mods but nothing that couldn't be undone and nothing to change the looks.
I'm trying to update my 24 with a heads up display, tire pressure monitor and a radio that adjusts volume based on speed I'm a gadget freak. Flush mounting the windsheild, removing the side lights and putting a 44 hatch and spoiler on. I will likely do alot of mods to the interior which is what I'm working on now more functional than cosmetic though. _________________ 80 924

| In 25 years, bone stock fully restored 924 cars will be worth a lot more than modified ones. |
