IF this
And this
Is what is going to be considered great work on the board and get praise them I am internetting with the wrong group...lmao
Macdog...now you should be proud of the work you have done and I have given construtive critisism in the past.
Like most times on the internet my joking sarcasim has offended another porsche buddy...sorry scorpio. "akward hug"
This is good work..I wished I would have made my mounts this way. When I haul my motor after I blow the tranny and TT I will make my just like them.

Scorpio: even you have to admit there are bits that could do with a tidy up and could have gone better.
Porschev: I would love to be able to spunk that much time on my cars but I can't and I'd also love to have the skill to do everything perfectly every time but I don't.
I do the best I can with what is available (Time, skill and materials) not everything goes as well as I'd like, but equally I recognise that, in my case, function wins over form. Doesn't mean I won't try and make it look pretty afterwards but I'm not that fussed!
Can we keep this friendly? I'd hate it if stuff wasn't posted just because it wasn't a perfect turnout every time and that, to me, is one of the attractions of a cheap but iconic car, they are all personal!
May I suggest the only way to sort this is handbags at dawn?

Good point Rich!!.. I admit it wasnt the best way to do it, but i took alot of time documenting it to help others.
It is the negative Non-constructive criticism that annoys me not the fact that people dont agree with my method
Hey Porshev ill give you a crate of beer when my intercooler falls out

Your right criticism is much easer to accept if it is constructive so I offer this for your future projects.
Measure twice cut or drill once
Don't ever use wood screws, use rivets, rivenuts or nuts and bolts
Use soft jaws in your vice
The fact that something is not seen does not mean it should not look good
and remember you are working on a Porsche, it may be old, it may not be the best model they ever made, but it warrants some respect. _________________ 1982 931

Not meaning to be a pickypants, but given what Scorpio did above - how do you rectify it without using shelving brackets and wood screws? lol. Ok let me reword...how would you fix it right so that it was done right? Cut a piece to fit, angled, and weld?
Just thinking ... you know, no matter how much we dislike that fix, and it is fugly, Scrappio gets hot model chicks posing in bed with him for cameras. Even if a few of them are his cousins, it's a notable accomplishment if you ask me. _________________ 1980 924 turbo, MSD, Meth. Inj, otherwise stock. |

While I have no hesitation agreeing that this installation falls way short of both Porsche`s and my own standards, Scorpio IMO should be entitled to some commendation at least for his willingness to "have a go" and undertake such a modification himself.
Quite obviously this is not his trade and as a valid defense justifies his work on economic grounds, time constraints, external visibility and the fact that it will still work regardless.
Let`s face it, quality comes down to time, skill, money, or a combination of all. Sure that Paris Hilton, Oprah, the Queen, or any other rich but unskilled individual, could easily have "the best" 924 if they desired it. A large majority of the nicest looking and fastest cars on this board have been prepared by shops, subcontractors and external craftsmen (paid or otherwise) rather than the knowledge, skills and fabrication of the owners. Other individuals may be retired, unemployed, single or have no other life and ample time to devote to their toys. There are some exceptions however and those owners/builders deserve much credit. Kudos to them.

Agreed!
Therefore tuurbo instead of sitting there initiating flame wars for your own gratification and amusement how about going and take some pictures of your work and posting it up for examination and criticism? And possible ridicule. Be it body work, mechanical, upholstery, whatever.
Go on. I challenge you. |

Go on. I challenge you. |
I prefer pistols at dawn:
1. I intended no flame war - nor would such an event give me either gratification or amusement - how people come to 'know' my intentions (towards creating a flame war...why?) anyway is beyond me. It's arrogance cum foolishness. I'm the harshest critic of my own work Dude. I think you'll see when you read what I wrote that I said nothing that merits your paranoia.
2. I asked sincerely how one does this in the future. I would still sincerely like to know. How does one deal with gaps between cut and paste? I don't know, that's why I freaking asked.
3. Scorpio and I have exchanged banter, PMs, and fun for over a year. And I don't tend to react when he goes too far, which ought to tell you I'm not critiquing his ass for any perceived slights or misdeeds. This translates again into no malevolent agenda on my part.
I've posted pictures of my humble work accomplishments before and I'm not about to scurry around and 'meet your challenge' because frankly I think since your critique, inferences about my intentions, and general attitude, is a tad out in left field somewhere, and the challenge therefore 'silly'. So sorry Dude. I'm too happy generally to indulge you right now. Find someone else befitting your 'challenge'.
Irony, anyone? _________________ 1980 924 turbo, MSD, Meth. Inj, otherwise stock.

yea..what is this? i thought this was over already..
about the intercooler instalation....i would never follow this route...i would never chop the body of my car in this way...maby replace/reweld parts of it with re-engineered ones but never play butcher.
I did cut the rear fenders when i installed the CGT body and i regret i didnt do a cleaner job. I hate improvisations and underengineered systems/assemblies. _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits
