Rob,

Don't bother with the MSA licence until Xmas. I think it runs year end to year end, so you would only be valid for the next 6 months.
And i would love to give you my doors, but some bloody idiot has gone and bolted them to my car, so i seem to be stuck with them!!
Regarding the weight issue, i would rather put ballast in where it benefits the balance of the car. Seems i might need to start stripping some lead off the local church roof's. Vicar will love that, but it's all for a good cause!

Simon,

Great to catch up with you and the others at Castle Combe Saturday.
What can i say, very impressed with the general atmosphere amongst the competitors. And regarding your offer, what can i say!! Very generous of you, and i may even take you up on it!! (foolish man!!)
To the rest of you, believe me when i say that Simons car was one of the most impressive machines out there. You could hear the supercharger whine from Quarry, which must be half a mile from the start line!!
I've just got to get my head down now and get the old girl finished!!

Regards,

Steve

It was great to meet you too, I'm sure you'll find the championship great fun and with real competition too.
I reckon you know your stuff and might just do well from the off.

It was nice to get another win on the board for the season, although my target was to beat Ian with his 914/6 and so as we got identical times and get the same points things are much as before for the overall class win.

Regarding a go in my car thats fine. If you dont get yours done in time by all means let me know and we'll share drive somewhere.
It would be better for me if it was a hillclimb as the tyres get very hot and a hammering on the sprints!

We have hills at Loton, Harewood and Longleat to do, another at Wiscombe (but I may not be doing that one so ask before filling in the forms!)just let me know.

Cheers
Simon
PS thanks for the jump start...I kept the Jeep going for the club awards... a GT1 on a wooden plinth!

Thanks cleethorpes...however the car is a bit different now with the IC inboard and a different air intake and rear wing.

I have a few pics but cant get them on the site (never did understand that stuff!)

Will send them to you anyway.
Hope to see you at an event soon.

Cheers
Simon

simsports not wrong !

Seen the pics and can say it looks 100% superb

Bass, which demon tweeks sliders did you get? there are loads to choose from and if they fit yours, they should fit mine. Thinking maybe the mk2 escort one, or possibly the peugoet 205...they all cost the same but then life is a lottery!

When I sort the above window prob I'll be ordering the pacet fan, sliders, seat and runners, samco's, boost/egt gauge and possibly an ally tank(+fuel pump). My very tasteful 80's brown interior will be only an ebay search away from a new owner!!!

Suspension wise, I'm thinking of giving the gaz shocks a go. If they are rubbish I'll soon find out, though they are really cheap anyway.

Does anyone sell fast road/race cams for turbo's...if they do they are hiding them very well.

Bass, Sim

getting the sliders tomorrow, along with a spa dual boost / temp gauge(not sure where I got that idea)

The slider kits are actually all identical, the codes are only relevent when buying a full window kit, though I can't see why???
Also the sliders are £25 if purchased without the kit, but tweeks had one that a customer had bought with a kit and returned and I got that for £15, so very nice of them that!.

Fuel tank wise I'm strongly heading the plastic jaz tank (rally design) route. These are reasonably priced and they sell mounting brackets for them so thats handy. Alu would be nice, but anything that involves less for me to do suits me fine.

Msa regs wise, I assume the plastic tank is allowed (not sure whether to get a small tank, about 4 gallon or bigger, any thoughts?) I'm gonna get a race fuel pump, can this go inside the cabin?

Sorry to ask so many questions but I can't find any links on the net to the msa regs.

Rob,

I would advise against putting the pump inside the car. The MSA regs require the fuel system to be sseperated from the driver. Easy enough in a Mk1/2 Escort, but not so easy in ours.
Keep the pump under the car and you should be fine. I have a 3 gallon unit mounted under the rear load area, with a sealing unit on top. Simon has a very similar set up and i would advise going down this route.
Oh, BTW, my old girl is in for paint in a week or two, and with the new Fuch 16"s i got, should look pretty sweet.
That just leaves exhaust, tyre and suspension to do. Read that as money, more money and even more money, and we're done!!

Regards,

Steve
