Enough to buy a used Boxster.

Worth it as I can keep up and beat certain 911 Turbo's.

non z06 vettes are in the rear view.

Amazing sleeper.

Last night I met up with a bunch of my friends at Caribou. We of course all have some nice machines... a 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1, a supercharged 2000 Ford Mustang GT with 480 whp and a few other random cars.

Well, my buddy with the supercharged Mustang has wanted to line up with me, especially since everyone was saying "I think the Porsche has ya man!"... so we went out to test the cars. Of course everything from this point on happens in Mexico in the desert at a drag strip...

Now, to give you an idea for my car: 1st ends at ~50 mph, 2nd ends at 85 mph, and 3rd ??

The supercharged Mustang: 1st ends at ~35 mph, 2nd ends at ~58 mph, 3rd ends at ??

We line up and got the green. We both take off smoking rubber from about 0-20 mph, and thats when we hook up. Both cars stick with each other for a sec, then I think thats about the time the supercharged mustang was at the end of its 1st gear. I still have plenty of gear left, so while he is shifting, I'm pulling. Got a good half car length during that shift. He's in 2nd now and I start to pull on him good. Don't know the exact length of distance but I started to gain distance. I was at the end of my 1st gear and I hit the rev limiter a couple times - oops! so he started to get a little ground back. I quickly threw her into the next gear and thats when it was all over. 2nd gear feels like nitrous on nitrous. I start to put good distance on him... 1 car length.... He's at the end of his 2nd gear and makes the shift. I put a couple car lengths on him during the shift. He continues but now I'm in the sweet spot and I just pull on him. Holy crap I thought it would be much closer then that. Man that was a fun race.

We then decide to turn around and go back to the United States and leave this mystery drag strip in the middle of the desert in Mexico....

Porsche's all tucked away for the winter - ready for the goodies this coming winter. Going to drop the 3.73's and go to 3.27's because the HP upgrades this winter will still make it faster - just want to hook up better at lower speeds (anything less then 60 mph and I can roast the tires - if I kept the 3.73's the computer says I'd be cooking the tires at 80 mph.......)

I did no work. I had http://www.hitechmotorsport.com do all the work.

They made all the brackets, stiffened the frame, and put in a Ford 8.8" Rear end with a 200R4 automatic (for clearance purposes) - still had to cut into the body.

The thing handles BETTER then it did before, and obviously is quicker

Do the work yourself and you are going to spend a lot.

I got it done for about 20k [USD]

you can do it yourself for around 6-8k or if you REALLLLLLY shop around less then 5k but this is of course you doing all the work and just going with basic stuff.

It can be done on a budget, but it won't be pretty or easy.
