This was inspired by Mac's conversion. Just a few changes to try and give the new plexi headlight cover something to sit on. The project is not done...always busy doing something other than working on the car.

Nice touch, using the existing light cover to support the new lens. How ill you fix it? Screws/bolts or will you use an adhesive? _________________ Pete

That's actually a great idea... I think I might do the same.
Haha I'd much rather be inspired to make some headlight covers than be inspired to put a chevrolet V8 in my 924 damn you PORSCHEV!!! _________________ 1979 931 with a 350 chev

I plan to put black rubber welting on the edge of the clear lens; fold the edge of the welting back when I screw the lens in place. This way it will give a nice clean look, but at the same time it should rid any imperfections in the gap where it fits the opening. _________________ 1976 924

Having seen PORSCHEV's work here in the past, I get the feeling this thread is going to need the word "Ultimate" in the title. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Finally got my ass in gear to get this part of the car done. I have only been working on it for 12 years I know most of the guys think I drive the car...but it hasn't been on the road in 12 years!!!
I am some what happy with the way the headlights came out. I used a very thick plexi material to make the covers. (6mm) I had a hard time to get the housing down low enough to make the covers flush with the body.
I used a (peel and stick) rubber trim to clean up the install. Looks great from 5-10 feet away. One big oversight is the fact the left head light plug has a clearance issue with the windshield washer tank! The headlight buckets are from a dodge dakota.

Not 12 years of work. There were some periods when it would sit for a year at a time untouched. I am putting a final push on this month..devoted to finishing the car. I just want to drive it on the road by September. _________________ 1976 924
