I am doing some swaping in one car and I get to thinking about the 924....

So I have the Infiniti M30 in the garage to some prep work for its engine swap. See it has the VG30E engine, 3.0 V6 SOHC non-turbo version of the 300zx twin turbo. This is a non-interference motor. Now I have a VG30DET (single turbo version) from a Leopard (JDM market version of the infiniti m30).

I converted the VG30DET over to twin superchargers, not turbo. In a month or so the Infinit gets the swap. By the way the engine is a direct bolt in. So is the trans. The Infiniti is also RWD, and a convertible...

So I am a performance junky, I got the Infiniti to commute to work and all that while I tear down the 944. Then move on to the 924 turbo. So I am looking at the 924 which sits next to the Infiniti. I get to thinking like everyone I want more power... then I start to think about the VG motor, I take some measurements... and how about that it will fit. Of course that is based on front to back and side to side measurements.

I dont mean it will fit with cutting I mean it would fit, motor mounts would be the issue as would mating it to the porsche torque tube... but how about a 400hp+ "non-interference" motor in the porsche shell. Oh yea and from what I can tell the V6 is lighter thant a 944 engine, oh and the VG engine also is available in a all alloy block... VQ series engine.

So the question is should I? Of course their is that whole stigma of putting a JDM engine in a Porsche, but the performance and higher redline, monster torque.... and great gas mileage. 931 trans would proably have issues with that much power of course.

I would love to hear people comment on this.

As for butchering a porsche and building a hybrid, I dont have issues with dropping in a v8 or a buick T-type 3.8 turbo V6... so a nissan engine isnt that bad and lighter, smaller and dohc 24 valves.... fuel injection, etc.... could even convert to carbs and still go with turbo or superchargers....

Possibilities... now if I could just get the AWD and 4 Wheel Steering from a skyline hahaha.... I would settle for finding a way to get the Audi AWD and engine setup to work in the 924 and maintaining a good balance and handling.

(PS: forgive my spelling issues)

Hmm, just one more measurement, height, make sure you have enough room for the sump and induction, if they fit it must be worth a go. Failing that, send me the engine and I can show Rick how to do an engine conversion.....once he takes the air out of his mouth and back into the tyres.

if you swap that nissan engine into your 924, please post some pics! I've got some pals at the zcar.com messageboard who would like to see that.
