I need a new turbo, my turbo no longer makes the cool whining noise it did before(now it sounds like the turbine is rubbing on the housing). Not only that, but it has a pretty big oil leak from the middle section of the turbo, the oil drips off the turbo and hits the down pipe and smokes bad!

Anyways, the only real foreign auto place, says they wont rebuild it, so I need to buy a new or remanufatured one through whoever they find selling it. Couple questions

1. How hard is it to rebuild a turbo?
2. What should I expect for a bill at ~$60/hour? (remove turbo, put new one in all the labor involved)
3. Anyone have a good conditioned turbo they can sell me?

I have a 81 924 btw.

I have responded to your info in the wanted section however will here as well, I have a unit for sale I am asking $500OBO, the details on it can be had in the wanted section,

the time to replace the turbo is 8 hours roughly if you know exactly what to do I did a writeup for eplyson awhile back so do a seach it is a step by step procedure that you could do yourself, or if you are close to the BC border and want to go for a drive come up here and I will install it at $20 an hour

if you have never attempted this yourself it will take roughly 12 hours if you are mechanically inclined and have the needed tools.
