Hello. I have an '87 924S. I've owned it for 2 years now and am now thinking of adding the carrera gt body kit. I found one available at gt-racing.com and wanted to ask if anyone has bought any products from this company. I wanted to know of the quality of fiberglass as well as durability, the bondage with steel, and ability to be painted with ease. Thank you.

I have looked at their site a few times and I heard that the quality is good but not the best. {How they rank on a scale from one to ten, I don't know.} www.allporscheracing.com has body panels as well. Their site seems to be down for the moment.

Maybe I am cheap or just old. Leave the 924S alone and maybe clean it up and paint it.

Someone gave me a 944 front valance and two fenders for free and I bought the flares from GT racing for about 300. Well, what seemed like a cheap fix cost me a lot more. Paint 1000, 944 suspension, 25.5 mm front sway, installation costs, 5 bolt wheels 7 and 8 and tires plus other items too numberous to mention.

The flare fit was not the greatest and you have to spend a lot of time to make it look perfect. I did all the paint and prep. It takes time. When finished it does look good.

You will have do something about the rockers. If you get that far let me know and I will help you. Rockers ala 944 I don't believe are available. I made mine for about 25 dollars.

i'm just about to finisch my rear flares, and could use a suggestion about the sideskirts. And hey arsy, know what you get yourself into, it is like vince said, a lot of work, adding to that it is not the most easy work. i'm writing a manual for installing stick-on flares that don't have the rubber band and are bonded into the paintwork. If you want i can send it to you when i have finished it. but if you don't have two good hands or some experience I would have to say, don't start with it. i spent about 300 euro's on the rear fenders, 125 on the front fenders, 300 on the new wheels, and the rest of the parts is costing me almost nothing, the paintjob and bondo, fiberglass, filler, etcetera. but i've started with a 924 turbo so some parts i don't need.

hey thnx guys for all the feedback. That would be great as well Hugo. I also wanted to ask if anyone has ever used and warehouse catalogs to order parts from such as Performance Products or MidAmerica Motorworks.

Performance Products and Mid-America (Tweeks) are part of the "standard arsenal" of places most of us look. I'll venture to say that the Board's concensus is that PP has a reputation of not necessarily being the most economical place to shop, but they are fairly reliable (high shipping costs though). Tweeks (Mid-America) isn't held in as high regard as PP, and I've read several posts here that if an item isn't in stock when you go to order it, look elsewhere.

It will pay to be a consumer shopper when looking for parts. Start a text file of on-line supply places, and when ever you need to buy things, check all the sites on your list. Some have free shipping if you order $50 or more, others give a % discount if you use the credit card they issue. I understand if you are a PCA member the dealerships can/will often match or beat prices from the on-line vendors.

There are several threads in the archives that have lists of places and their web addresses.

Yeah, thanks for the advice, I already started a text file with a list of all the items I want. I have been looking for the threads you were talking about but couldn't find any. Ill keep looking and thanks again everyone for the advice.

Got my 944 wings fitted and managed to find a 924T nose panel for GBP100

Does anyone know where you can replacement vents for this?

Also picked up a full set of refurbished BBS/Mahle rims which should sit pretty on the 924S suspension. Where can you buy centrecaps for the BBS rims with no bolt hole cover?

GT-racing is good to me. When the product is in stock, they shiped items quick. Even, don't have one in stock, they give you an estimated date. I got few earler than they estimated. My application was to race, and I found no problem on fit nor quality. Was easy to paint.

Even their hood survived with little roughness from an engine fire. The fire was last longer than some people thought, causing a red flag!

Somewhere on this site I had someone put pictures of my rockers and how to make them. Look or search for "Vince's Pictures" and I think Audidog put them on the site.

In America we have baseboard heating as an alternative to radiators in our homes. I am sure you do too. Go out and look for these baseboard heating panels and you will see they are the right size for the rockers top to bottom. With the kit you also get a 2 in strip the same length. Have someone weld the strip to the bottom of the wider panel forming a L shape. Cut to size and weld on. YOu will have a seam under the door but you can weld and grind so that you will not see the seam any longer. Use body filler to hide welds. Weld the two in strip to the bottom of the car. Buy Schuss or the material used on the bottom of car such as the 944 and you will get the pebble grain look and finish it off with a spray on paint protecter. If you saw my car you could not tell if I used 944 panels. I tried to buy 44 rockers but the time and energy was too much.

As far as I know no one makes rockers that look stock. GT Racing never got the rocker dyes and does not have them. You could buy aftermarket rockers from PEFA in Germany. One of them has a hole in it to vent to the rear brakes.

Cannot find the pictures email audidog he may still have them. Let me know how you make out.

I also did not use the black strip. I glued and screwed in the rear flares.

Club Autosport http://www.clubautosport.co.uk here in the UK sell the rocker panels for GBP50.

I will be ordering a set this week so expect a quality report soon!
