Can I do it to an 81' or 82', with moderate 924 experience?

All ya gotta do......

heh, simple questions.

the short answer , turn up the boost and disconnect the emisions stuff ,and advance the timming to 15 dbtdc . OR a $300 gator supercharger for the launch , would put you first in line , to pay your tickets , and at the dealer for more parts .

So how did the factory manage 177hp for Europe, the US spec is good for 154(or so i read)
Does the emissions equipment, draw off that much power? 23 horses is nothing to sneeze at.

Just buy a, or make a boost controller. ~10psi and you'll start having fun.

Emissions stuff is not an issue. Just get the euro pistons, distributor and wastegate spring for the 177 HP. Or do what everyone is advising, jack up your boost. I run 17 psi vs. 7 psi stock for US spec. cars. I figure that I am getting 200+ HP.

Numbbers, what else do you have done to it? Do you have euro pistons? They are.. 9.0 to 1 right? Would a MSD Distributer work as well as a euro one?

Oh, are you running 17psi w/o an intercooler?

Ha Ha Khal very funny.Get me a work visa and i'm there pal.Mannghi, changing the pistons to 8.5/1 (euro) is not exactly cheap or easy.Turn up your boost with a controller, cheap ones are about $15 at HomeDepot. If you don't live at 7,000 feet of elevation then I wouldn't go as high as 17 psi like Nummbers but maybe 10-12.Keep in mind that the closer to sea level you are the denser the air is.Temperature is also a factor.Everyone with a turbo car will tell you they have ALOT more pep on a chilly fall day than on a hot summer one, because again the air is denser,so unless you have an intercooler if you live at sea level and turn it past 12 ish psi on a hot day you will risk damage to your engine. If your engine hasn't been rebuilt in awhile and burns alittle oil you may want to disconnect the crankcase vent from the back of the airbox.Buy a little K&N filter and vent it to air then plug the hole on the airbox with a wine cork i've got extras if you need one. Vaporized oil does not burn so why would you feed it right back into an engine that produces power by combustion? It lowers the octane rating.I'm gonna catch shit from the environmentalists for sure but oh well.Gut your catalytic converter or buy a high flow aftermarket unit and always use premium gasoline.Or just get an intercooler.

Floso. Nope, nothing else done to it, and no intercooler. But, as keno has indicated, I am at altitude (5600 feet). So, you are going to have to cut your boost back some, depending on your altitide.

Roughly 1/2 PSI decrease per 1000'.

Altitude Pressure Altitude Pressure

0,000 29.92 20,000 13.75
1,000 28.86 25,000 11.10
2,000 27.82 30,000 8.886

3,000 26.82 35.000 7.041
4,000 25.84 40,000 5.538
5,000 24.89 45,000 4.355

10,000 20.58 50,000 3.425
15,000 16.88 60,000 2.118
18,000 * 14.94 100,000 0.329

* This is almost exactly one-half the sea-level value.
To convert in/Hg to psi, multiply by 0.491
