I have a 80' 931. that wount start and i think i have a dead feul pump. I took one of the bolts off that hold the hose to the feul distributer and I bearly even get a dribble of gas when i try to start it up.
So, i heard that there are 2 fuel pumps in these cars one in the tank and one out of it so how do i know which one isent working? Is there any way to check a feul pump after you have it out of your car? Are all 924 fuel pumps the same ? thanks guys |

i havre never had to replace my fuel pump, but historically they are not cheap. I would start by checking simple things like fuses and wires. Replacing a blown fuse could save you a couple hundred dollars. _________________ looking for a great one...... |

First, are you certain you unhooked the fuel feed line and not the return line when you checked for fuel flow? (Gotta ask...) It is also possible that the in-tank pump's screen is clogged, the car's fuel filter is clogged, or you have other fuel line obstructions.
Both internal and external pumps run on straight 12v power. For safety sake, disconnect the car's wiring to the pumps and then hook up "jumper wires" to the pump(s). Then apply power to see if they work. Seeing that they are FUEL pumps, I'd attach wires to the pumps, then apply juice to the other end of the wire so you won't have the potential for sparks right there at the pump.
The car is capable of running with just the primary pump working, but it will reduce performance and probably burn out the pump in pretty short order. _________________ '79 Eurospec 931 |
