Just picked up the 3 Volume "Excellence Was Expected" books and found some interested info regarding the 924S. Firstly, the internal model designation for the 924S was 946 (947 being the right hand drive versions). Secondly, there was a 924S2 being readied for the 1989 model year with the 944 oval dash and revisions to the front and rear facias. The model was killed as Porsche was trying to break ties with the VW/Audi factory where the watercoolers were being built.

Wow... a 924S2... drool!
