Hello All...

I've finally succeeded in fitting 951 brakes onto my '81 931. It requires mixing and matching of parts and I'll detail the process after I set my ride height.

What is a good right height? Is there a front to rear relative position? I know 911s have -1° nose down attitude when you measure from the door sills. How about 931s?

Do Euro and US cars have different springs? Please educate me. Thanks.

Sprint.

Hi Lizard!

By same front and rear, you mean the gap from tire to fender is the same front to rear? Thanks.

The door sill should measure level when the car is parked on a level surface. Measurements taken at the wheel (distance from x to y) will vary depending on tire dimensions, inflation, sheet metal warpage, etc, etc. Get a decent level and lay it on the door sill - there should be no slope.

I do recall reading here on the Board, that US and European spec cars had a different ride height because of US DOT bumper height regulations. I'm guessing that both the front and rear were raised a bit on US models, but don't know what the actual specs are. Do an archive search and something should turn up. There have been some threads about exactly how to adjust the ride height, maybe the specs are mentioned there too.

Put a level in the door jamb. It should rear level to be the right height. You will love the difference in braking.

The US/RoW springs are the same. The US cars were raised in the rear to meet the bumper regs. That's why leveling the car has such a tremendous impact on the brakes, as you could imagine!

The front doesn't have a ride height adjustment (unless you put on 951 coilovers when you did the brakes?). So just set the rear to make the car level using the sill as CMXXXI posted.

PS- fill us in on this brake job!
