Just thinking of the parts I am putting on my car, and was thinking that using the 944 windshield trim (83-85.5) and the drip rail (86-91). Should allow better cutting through the air and less drag, These are parts I am using on my car. And seeing how the air will flow better over the car this is a definite improvement over the stock items. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

Agreed, I've thought of that too...
Even better, remove the windshield and mount it flush, just like in the GT! _________________ Vaughan Scott

I don't think they fit. I tried to put on 924 Euro 1984 drip rails and couldn't or didn't really try hard enough.
Windshield trim might be different 944 has recessed windshield. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

Wasn't the concensus with the late 944 windshield that it is essentially the same piece of glass with a spacer, and the integrated antenna? _________________ '81 931 in various states of assembly |

Yes, the windshields are the same, I fitted them myself. I tell you guys what when I get my next late 944 in with a good windshield I'll fit it in one of my cars I plan to make a racer and tell you how it comes out, Right now, I am using the early 944 trim it slopes instead of blocks like the 924 and fits right into the clips. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

Joe, the car I am working on is a street car, Yes lots of color, But still be streetable. As for the side skirts need to find someone who'll mold them. If there was a serious interest in them. I would be more inclined to move quicker as I am sure the cost of the initial set up would get me but if say I had a dozen on order fromt he get go. It would balance out nicely beside I only wantto make a few dozen at a time so Porsche doesn't hit me on the infringement again. I'll try and post some pictures in the for sale part. And see who wants some. _________________ Life is to short to be looking for something? |

Go to Home Depot and buy two boxes of baseboard heating covers. You will find one panel that is about 2 in. and one 10 inches by about 4 feet. Hammer down the top lip and weld the 2 in piece to the 10 in piece forming a L. You will find that it fits the rockers perfectly. You will have to bondo the welds to hide them and them weld the bottom of the L to the bottom of the rocker. When finished it looks like a stock 944 rocker. It is an exact fit top to bottom. You will have to cut the left and right sides though.
I then covered the entire rocker with "Schuss" in a can for the motled look found on all 944s. Total cost about $30.
I can send pictures in to be posted if anyone is interested. All of the above was to complete my GT replica.
Take a close look at the rockers in the avatar and you will see how they look. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

I also have the 944 style ram on the top of my glass. It has to help and also looks much better if you ask me. Also put foam in the sides to close up the gap running up the sides of the glass. I got a nice set of seals for that area off a 924S then just happened across weather strip that was the right size for my 1980.
Also another upgrade that helps on wind noise.... 968 door seals. Man are they sharp! The fill in the rather large gaps around the door at the top and down much of the side. Really cuts down the noise.

Erik,
Can you post pics or send some to me? I would love to see both up close pics of the 944 style glass as well as the 968 door seals. Do they door seals just go on or does it take a lil work?
As for the glass, is that 944 glass, or just trim over the 924 glass? I want the glass that fits right with the body, but if there is a cheap and effective way to make things look nice...
Is this the car?
